Originally there were twelve farms. Now it is the most populated village in Val di Fiemme. The village of Predazzo is considered the 'Geological Garden of the Alps' because it boasts the highest concentration of geological varieties in the world. Come and discover the central square where you can visit the Geological Museum of the Dolomites to admire an extraordinary collection of mineral rocks and fossils.
Predazzo's historical centre is dominated by the neo-Gothic church of Saints Philip and James (built in 1870), the original houses 'the twelve masi', some of which are decorated with frescoes. The oldest church is that of S. Nicolò, which dates back to the 16th century.
Predazzo is an important tourist resort all year round, with a public swimming pool, the Biolago, and well-equipped ski lifts that lead to the Ski Center Latemar, Pampeago and the Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia ski area. As well as being crossed by the Marcialonga cross-country ski track, it is home to the Ski Jumping Stadium (named after Giuseppe Dal Ben), which has hosted three Nordic Skiing World Championships (1991, 2003, 2013) and will host the 2026 Cortina Olympics.
